One kick for another

So I find it coincidental that the day I decided to give up red bull kickers my sister, told me about a kick boxing class that is in North Pole. The first class is free so you can see if you like it, so I tried it out..... let me just say the work outs at the beginning of class are what killed me, we have 4 different work outs for a minute each on arms, legs and abs..... that kicked my a$$ so bad that I had to sit out the first exercise of actual kick boxing..... but I got right back in after I wasn't naseated and light headed. My sister and I are partners and I think we make an awesome team, we are both good at cheering and pushing the other on. I know its too soon to say this but I think that my body is already looking better. By this summer I will be in fantastic shape and my boyfriend will be drooling over me. ^^ He said he does already but he is going to see a big change in my appearance and self confidence, he did mention he was going to have to kick the crap out of people if they stare too hard...then he corrected him self by saying "...or I can just have you kick the crap out of them because you are the one taking kick boxing...."
So he agreed to pay for kick boxing, as it is keeping me in shape and I gave up red bull kickers, and he agreed that if I continue on this path and give up soda too that he will take whatever ballroom dancing class that I want. YAY FOR ME!! So I don't kill my self next class I am supposed to do 30 minutes of the stationary bike(that Seth bought for me yesterday), pilates and yoga; between those three things I think we are off to a great start!

Big Eyes

So I have been born with rather large eyes, and though they are brown, they have been admired by many. So on Wednesday I was texting my best friend about first friday (first friday is when the art galleries in town showcase artists) and how we should dress up again, because it was fun last time, and then all of a sudden I get a text that says "Your eyes make you a whore".... I didn't know how to respond to that.

Let me give you a little bit of a background: When I was 17 lost my virginity and became scandalous, I thought it was because I was rebelling... now that I am older I realized it was because I have a high sex drive. One person I talked to about it said I am a passionate, sexual and sensual person.

Now back to the text. After I asked her where that came from, she explained how she had read that women with bigger eyes tend to have more estrogen.  So basically... my eyes make me have a high sex drive... who knew.

FBX Roller Girls

My bestie and ME!
So on Saturday I went to my very first roller derby event.  Just to get it out there it's a flat track, not banked like in the movie whip it.  Well my best friends sister, QWERTY, was doing her first bout on Saturday and she is awesome! I really can get into watching derby, I have even considered joining myself, the only set back besides having to make it through try outs is the money! Just for the gear its $350.00, and insurance is another $50.00 a year and then there is also monthly dues, so I said to my self "Self I think you can wait a year to see if you can afford it."  So that is what I am doing. So now my best friend and I are just the sideline cheerleaders lol not officially but we drew on our stomachs Saturday supporting her sister and being a mini-fan club. We decided we would like to get a bit more dressed up next time:)

Qwerty and her mini-fan club!!
So Derby raises money for a lot of organizations, this bout helped raise money for a scholarship for single mothers... and I am applying for it :) One of the coolest things they do every year is Zombie Prom, this years theme is Willy Wonka and the Flesh Factory. And I was struggling with what I would be so we went to a local consignment and found a gold dress and decided I am going to be a Zombie Golden ticket, I'm pretty sure no one else is going to be so its going to be awesome! And my boyfriend is going to be a chocolate bar. YAY ZOMBIES!!! The money raised for zombie prom this year is going to go to the aids foundation.

PS. The Q still hasn't come off my stomach!!

So the above is the molecular formula for Caffeine... and let me just say... I am addicted to it! Not just I have an energy drink now and then. I actually go through the withdrawal symptoms when I haven't had it in a few days.. not good... I'm trying to figure out the best way to get off of it as going cold turkey just doesn't work for me this time.  The issue I have is I get drowsy on the way to work, and the caffeine keeps me from dozing off.... So its a catch 22...

My guilty pleasure is actually red bull kickers.... you know those drinks where they put flavored syrup and red bull together.... well its amazing and very bad for me. Anyone have advice one caffeine addict to another?

Pinching Pennies

As I may have mentioned before in my other blogs, I am kinda poor due to a trip I made in December/January for visiting family and a wedding of one of my best friends.

I am trying to figure out ways here and there to make a bit of extra cash, so I help my little sister pack up her room because she is moving out of my dad's in a few weeks, I give Trenton's old clothes to Once Upon a Child consignment (http://www.onceuponachild.com/locations.aspx) and I get a few bucks, I'm putting things together for a garage sale this summer, so when people I know just want to get rid of something that has some value to it, I take it off their hands and offer to sell it for them.

My issue is I have a small amount of credit card debt (less than $500.00) and I have been borrowing money from my dad, my best friend, my boyfriend, and holding off on paying my step-mom for childcare... I have a few outstanding medical bills, and repairs to make on my car....I made the decision to apply for a small consolidation loan/personal loan so that I can pay everyone off and just have that one loan until I get my tax return.... then I will be debt free except for my Mortgage.

In attempts to "pinch my pennies" I have been trying to cook with ingredients I already have in the house, so as you will see in my cooking blog( http://happinessishomemade-meg.blogspot.com/ ) I have been doing pretty good so far and only buying the one or two items that I don't have in order to make dinner. I only spent $13 or so on 2 tubs of sour cream, 2 packages of lunch meat, an energy drink(which I didn't need), and some dinner rolls on discount at the bakery section of our local Fred Meyer (http://www.fredmeyer.com/Pages/default.aspx). Also on the way out they have a Red Box (www.redbox.com) where you can rent a movie for 1$ per night. So total amount spent last night at the store was about $15. My boss pointed me in the direction of a distributing company in our area (that has wonder bread and such) that does an outlet on a certain day and you can get bread for about $1 a loaf.

I was also reading an article the other morning about how you shouldn't pay full price for anything, so before you buy that amazing shirt, or shoes check and see if they have something similar on sale, shop around even sometimes a competing store will have a lower price, maybe even wait to see if they go on sale....

They only thing that I pay full price for is cheese and a few other foods, I like to go to the grocery store and stock up on the good stuff when it goes on sale, but I don't believe that my taste buds need to be on a budget...

Late New Years Resolution

OK so I didn't actually remember about new years resolutions until about Monday this week. So I wrote some goals up and am starting Monday the 17th next week which is also Martin Luther King Jr Day. So Im now calling it my Martin Luther King Jr Day New Years Resolution.

1.Brush Teeth Daily
So I know your thinking gross, but in reality not everyone brushes their teeth daily, I have noticed if I am running late or extremely tired I will just go to bed or work and do nothing!
2. Take better care of self
Everyone has this one, the eating better and exercising, but really its a good one and its never hurts to try.
3. No texting or personal online things while on the clock
I admit I have a texting problem, and I like to do my own thing for a few minutes here and there, but in reality how am I going to be considered valuable at work if I'm dinking off?!?!? So I do my things before work, at lunch time and after work.
4. Get home improvement projects done
Getting all of them done is not necessarily realistic, but if I can get a lot of the little things done by 2012, that would make my life easier.(See house blog after its put up :))
5. Keep house and car clean
I have a small problem, I am super busy, by the time I get home at night it is 7, I still have to make Trenton and I dinner, get us ready for bed.  By the time that is done, its bed time.... though I do have a problem with staying up trying to get little things done, but I start one project and realize I had something else to do, then after I started that one I remember something else, by the time 11 pm rolls around I have 3 or 4 projects started and nothing accomplished. And my car.... I live out of it.... its gross.... yeah.
6. Better Time management
I don't really get enough sleep, I don't have Trent on a good schedule, I get side tracked... so maybe this is a good one to try.
7. Strengthen my Faith
I believe in God, plain and simple, I don't necessarily agree with organized religion. I feel closer to God when I am out side in an open night sky looking at the universe and all its amazing mystery. I haven't read the Bible, and I need to start.
8.Budget
A budget is an amazing thing, I'm usually good with my money management, but ever since my holiday trip I have nothing.... I am poor already but it got worse after this trip. So I am going to follow Dave Ramsey. I have started reading his book "Total Money Makeover", and my family that has money swears by it!! I have also recently read articles that I will see about how to attach them, on better ways to save money and such. You know like never paying full price for anything by looking for sale items, and using coupons and such.  I am also buying Christmas presents earlier, and putting money in a Christmas CD each month.

Part of the being healthier and budgeting is not stopping by my coffee shop anymore..... I am a Caffeine addict..... I need to cut it down a bit so I can live a long fruitful life.

Life as we know it intro

The name is Megara my friends call me Meg, at least they would if I had any friends.... haha but really my name is Meg, since I am new to this whole blogging thing I thought I would start with a little bit about my self and how I am going to break down this blog. The Life as we know it blog is going to be my General Blog, and I am going to have, for lack of a better term sub-blogs..... which will include things such as my home improvement projects, cooking and baking, wedding planning(only because its fun and a few of my friends are getting or just recently became married.  In amongst this one I wanted to include normal things in my life such as my son, my relationship(s), finance, some of my random crafts and projects, building my faith, dancing and sensuality.... lol so you know normal everyday things *smiles*

So if you couldn't tell by the list I gave you above I am a single mother to a beautiful toddler, Trenton, I just recently became a home owner in June, I love to bake/cook and diy projects, I love to draw, dance, and take pictures. I am into vintage everything, and I am a big list maker(I am going to start a new listography, as I haven't used mine since high school and add the link). I'm sure there are things I left out but hey its my first go round with this kind of thing, and I'm not even sure anyone will read this so.... here goes nothin'!!
